Prohibition will continue in Bihar: Speaker
Gaya: Assembly Speaker Prem Kumar on Friday ruled out any possibility of lifting state’s prohibition policy, asserting that the liquor ban has yielded positive results and will continue.Speaking here, Kumar said there was no question of revoking prohibition, even as a fresh political debate has emerged after JD(U) MLA Anant Singh and RLM MLA Madhav Anand called for its repeal.Dismissing speculation of differences within the ruling alliance, Kumar said there was no resentment within the BJP or JD(U) over the appointment of Samrat Choudhary as the CM. He said the leadership change had the full backing of the NDA and was unanimously supported in the legislative party meeting.Kumar added that the CM has begun functioning in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision while carrying forward the governance model of his predecessor Nitish Kumar. On the women’s reservation bill, the Speaker described it as a visionary move aimed at enhancing women’s participation in democracy and urged opposition parties to support it.Commenting on the upcoming assembly elections in states such as West Bengal, Kumar said public sentiment was turning against the current regime and expressed confidence that the BJP would form the govt with a decisive mandate.
